What Starkworth's live screening session involves, why it's required, and how to prepare so it goes smoothly.
The live screening is a short session, done over video from your own laptop, and it's a standard requirement of the AI freelance platforms themselves — not something Starkworth adds on top. Its purpose is to confirm that the verified, real person completing onboarding is who they say they are, which protects both you and the integrity of the account.
Every Account Owner completes live screening as part of onboarding — it isn't optional and isn't skipped for any account type.
Screening protects you directly: it confirms that no one else can claim ownership of your account, and it satisfies the underlying platform requirement that keeps the account in good standing. Skipping or faking this step isn't possible, and attempting to work around it would put the account itself at risk.
The session itself is short. It's scheduled after ID verification and before agreement signing, as one step within the broader onboarding sequence described in How to Become a Starkworth Account Owner.
Live screening doesn't have a cost associated with it — it's a required verification step, not a paid or billable service.
If anything about the screening process is unclear beforehand, ask during the explanation step, which happens earlier and is specifically designed to answer these questions. You should never feel rushed into screening without having had it explained first.
Illustrative example — not a real customer case study
An Account Owner completes their explanation call and asks what documents they'll need for screening. They're told to have their government ID ready and to test their camera and microphone beforehand. On the day, the session takes a few minutes, confirms their identity, and they move straight to reviewing their agreement.
It's a standard requirement of the AI annotation platforms themselves, confirming the verified account holder is a real, identifiable person.
Reach out through Support to understand what happened and what your options are — issues are often resolvable with clearer documentation or a rescheduled session.
A laptop is the standard requirement mentioned during onboarding — confirm specifics with your onboarding contact if you have constraints.
Ask your onboarding contact directly for specifics on session handling, consistent with the Privacy Policy's data handling commitments.
It's scheduled after ID verification and before you move to agreement signing — timing depends on your own availability.
Treat it as straightforward identity confirmation — there's no need to prepare answers to trick questions, since that isn't what it's for.
